Biography

Lakin Ogunbanwo was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1987 where he currently lives and works.

Ogunbanwo studied at Spéos Photography Institute, Paris, France in 2012 after his studies in Law at Babcock University, Nigeria and Buckingham University, UK.

Solo shows include: Are We Good Enough, Whatiftheworld, Cape Town, South Africa (2015); Muse, Didi Museum, Lagos, Nigeria (2014) and Portraits, Rooke & Van Wyk Gallery, Johannesburg, South Africa (2013). Other recent group shows include: Broken English, Tyburn Gallery, London, UK (2015); The Human Condition, Lagos Photo Festival, Lagos, Nigeria (2016 and 2013) and Grid Photo Biennial, Cape Town, South Africa.

Lakin Ogunbanwo’s work has been featured in the New York Times, ID online, Harpers Bazaar, British GQ and Riposte Magazine. He has recently been recognised by the British Journal of Photography as one of the Top 25 Photographers of 2015 in their annual Ones to Watch edition.
