Athi-Patra Ruga has been commissioned to create a piece, titled ‘Over the Rainbow’, for the 2016 Performa Gala. The gala is held by the organisation which runs the Performa Biennial, an event founded in 2005 to specifically showcase performance art. This year’s theme is Beloved Country: A tribute to the rich history and power of the visual arts in South Africa.
